This summer I had the great opportunity to accept the Living Language Mobile internship, as part of the Random House Digital Publishing Group, aimed to design new web and mobile language-learning tools.
The scope of the internship was to research and experiment with a team of language editors and designers, with a goal of innovating within and beyond existing digital products to expand the reach of Living Language content and educational methodology. Focusing on user experience, the team developed products to extend the line of newly-branded Living Language books and audio CDs. We created a series of online games and learning activities, as well as mobile applications, designed with extended multimedia tools, including vocabulary flashcards, animated grammar lessons, and audio conversations for comprehensive language learning.
My role as an interaction designer included:
- competitive research
- stakeholder interviews
- brainstorming sessions with paper prototyping
- site mapping
- developing wireframes and online prototypes
- usability tests with individuals who study (or have studied) French
- some visual design
The Living Language Essential French for iPhone/iPod Touch is now available in
the iTunes App Store.
